Pre-Med Requirement

The following courses are requirements of medical schools:

Introductory Biology

English
(At Rensselaer, these are listed with the prefixes COMM, LITR or WRIT)

All of the above science courses require lab or the Rensselaer equivalent of lab (studio). Physics I and II for Engineers can be taken in place of the Introductory Physics courses.

Course requirements need to be fulfilled before the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) can be taken, ordinarily in April of the junior year or the August prior to the senior year. These courses provide the basic set of information for the MCAT. Also suggested is an introductory course in Philosophy or Logic.
